Ecwid (now Ecwid by Lightspeed) is an embeddable ecommerce solution that lets you add a fully functional online store to any existing website. It works with WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, and even plain HTML sites. The platform is ideal for businesses that already have a website and want to add selling capabilities without rebuilding from scratch.

Ecwid is remarkably easy to set up. You copy a code snippet into your existing website, and the store appears. The admin dashboard is clean and straightforward, covering products, orders, and marketing in a logical layout. Even non-technical users can add products and manage orders within minutes of installation.

The platform covers physical and digital products, product variations, inventory tracking, and shipping calculators. Multi-channel selling across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Amazon is available on paid plans. The POS integration through Lightspeed enables in-person selling with synced inventory.

The free plan includes up to 5 products, which is enough to test the platform. Venture at $21 per month unlocks 100 products and discount coupons. Business at $39 adds 2,500 products, abandoned cart recovery, and product variations. Unlimited at $89 removes product limits entirely.

Ecwid works well for small to medium catalogs but is not designed for stores with thousands of products or complex inventory requirements. The embedded approach means you are dependent on both Ecwid and your host platform performing well. Stores expecting rapid growth should consider a dedicated ecommerce platform.
